The water is starting to cool down and, the winter trout are starting to move inshore here on the SC coast. The spin fishers are taking them on mirror lures and, sting ray grubs. The fly folks are taking them on clousers, dalberg, and, deceiver flies. As the water cools more the trout will start moving up into the rivers and, creeks in our salt marches and, the bite will be on until the water starts to warm.

The trout and schoolie stripers are being taken here in the rivers too. The weather has hust been too cold or me to think about chasing them. The ones I know that have the coconuts to fish in this weather have been catching them on the same baits.

I went in the river this afternoon for a little while to toss some flies and, just get away from the shop for a while. I landed 11 trout all over 2 lbs. All were caught on olive and, white and, chartreuse clousers.

Bravo!!! Going to see if I can get my buddy to take me out to the bridge... He took a charter out the other day and they boated a 46 lb Striper. Schoolies and Trout are at the mouths of the rivers, but the water temps are 48 or so, a little too cool for my butt in the yak.....

I'm glad that you understand it.The big red fish are showing strong in the surf now so, I have to make up my mind between the trout on the river and, the surf.

Sandy Have you fly rodded for them in the surf. That's big up here in the northern costal states?

I have caught trout in the surf with the long rod but, they don't seem to go after a fly as aggressively down here in the surf like they do further north of here

The trout and schoolie stripers are on the bite around the various bridges around here. Big Stripers are at the CBBT, but it is a question of the weather allowing fishermen to et out to them.

I didn't know that coconuts were migratory?

You wade into those rivers in this weather and they'll migrate for sure!!! (And you have to be careful not to choke on them when they do!) LOL
