I'm looking to help answer a new neighbor's question. He was out with someone a couple weeks ago, not real sue if it was fresh or salt water. His friend was using spinning gear, red/white buck tail jig with a short (4or 6") plastic worm on it. This fellow was using a fly rodd. Spinning guy was getting fish, fly rod not. He tried every fly in his box. No dice. Puts on a red/white Clouser tied heavy, looked similar to the hig, o fish. Frustrated, he put a plastic worm on it for the heck of it, BAM! Fish On! So now we're discussing how to tie up something that would work without the plastic. (I'm not sure why he doesn't just want to add a plastic worm and call it a day, I don't know him well enough to get into the "what's a fly" debate. He's a Colorado transplant, and doesn't know aaltwater either. Anyway..) So, tyers, any suggestions I should pass along?

That's the thought I had. Zonker strip tail with a buck tail body. The only thing about the Zonkers is that you really have to rinse them out after the salt, they harden up. I was also thinking that maybe a half and half with only one or two feathers for a tail. Or maybe a thick Chenile tail.

I'm sure that the Jedi Masters will be checking in and throwing ideas at us, but it'll be interesting to see how close our ideas are to what they say!

BUNNY STRIP!!!!!! I tie a bunny strip to my hook before I tie a heavy red and, white clouser for cobia and, for stripers up in the lakes.I don't no if it will work on stripers in the salt because we don't catch them in the salt down here

While we're on the subject. The wife brought home some strips from a purple bunny, byt they are cut across the grain...What are those good for?? Thought of using them on an eel pattern for flounder, thinking the goofy cut might add some vibration and movement

They make good fuzzy heads but, the strips cut long with the grain make great eel tales.
