;D ah yes that new boat smell. well, ok new to me boat smell. ok that's the new paint on the boat i just bought off a guy up the road. lol. sold the yak for 350 and bought a 12 jon for 350. nice even swap out. already have the web site on "how to turn your jon boat into a bass boat" on the quick link site. shopping for a little self contained gas engine. 5 hp or under. pref on of the nice quiet ones. I hope to take it down to our state fishing place here. that way if I get into trouble the first time out in the boat the rangers will come looking for me. you have to check in and out and pay a daily fee. all catch and release on bass so the fishing is great. the lilly's will be blooming soon the bass have to be bedding right now. lizards should work well. hope to catch them coming off the beds here real soon. I hope to have at least one story by the end of the week. thoughts of floating flies are starting to creep into all my thougts. lol. tight lines, b.

I love my jon boat, I can get it into places my other boat could never go. They can make an excellent bass boat for chasing them in the back areas of lakes. Congrats on your new ride!

yeeehaaaawwwww it floats!!!!!! the new boat passes with flying colors. trolling motor went for most of the day back and forth on the lake. for saftey sake i really need to get a small gas motor. a windy day could be a problem towards the end. seats would be nice. perhaps a trip to walmart is in order. harbor freight has a little trailer for just over 300 that i might invest in and just leave here in polk city. at that price i can afford to have a couple of them in various places and then just haul the boat on the truck top. once i get the motor and battery and all my junk in it tho it is pretty hard to load into the truck bed. a trailer would handy and make me less vulerable. I was lucky in that there was a bit of a crowd at the ramp today. felt pretty safe. a great group of guys killin some time fishing helped me load the boat with all the gear right into the truck tonite so it took like 3 minutes to pack out insead of 30. happy dance!!!! thanks to all the good guys that help a gal at a launch.
so i just love love love this little boat. cant wait to give it my special treatment. tweek it all out. you know i have to paint it camo!! lol. gonna carpet it and convert one of the seats to a live well or storage. put some swivel seats in it. yeah baby. i know some guys that have had their little jons 15 years or more. i have a feeling that this will be one of those great long term relationships. what a feeling it is reach a goal. ok ok, i'll stop gushing. i'll see about getting some pic's up somewhere for ya'll to check out.
tight lines. b.

Brenda,
I have a 7.5hp motor on the back of mine just for the bigger lakes or those windy days. I have the trolling motor mounted to the front. Its just a little 12 footer but its been a great boat. I have had it since the late 70's and its taken a beating and its still floats. I did have to patch it once. Another nice thing about jon boats is you don't need a ramp to float it. I don't know how many times a just drug it down the bank and into the water. Somehow I knew you were going to camo yours, LOL

well i got a nice 19998 mariner 3.3 hp that looks brand new today. paid a little premium for it but i got from a guy whose buisness is fixing boat motors. starts on the first pull. runs real nice. woulda liked a 7 but could get a ticket here in fla for a 7 on a boat rated for a 5. would have loved a 5 but this little bitty really kicks it up and should do the job just fine. is light enough to pick up with one hand. that is what sold it. has a kill swtich. see my story in the other post. kinda thought neutral and a kill switch were important after that little trip. didn't have to buy off ebay. scary thought. got it right here in town. also got a little trailer for it today too. just got a hair loose and started calling around. got lucky. might go fishin tomorrow afternoon just to ease it outta my system and then take the kid out this weekend. I gotta test everything you know before I take the boy out. LOL.
