OK guys i am looking for a great bass rod and reel. trying to keep it under $150.00 i need one for buzz bait , spinners and still Babel to cast worms . this is of me so i like spinning reels . i have a Mitchell Avocet II Gold Series with a All Star GT40X Graphite .. am looking for something a little batter ...

Penn has a combo set up with a SV600 reel that may be rite up your ally

I can't help you with bass fishing, but I do agree with Bob, for spinning reels I haven't had any troubles with Penn or Shimano.

thanks sandy i called and checked it out. for the sv4000 reel and rod was just $60.00 + s-h. so i think ill go with one of them and the sv500. the gear on the 4000 is 6.2 and the 5000 is 5.1 so thanks to you i can get two for wont i was going to pay for one ... o and the ssm are great to but like you told me they are to big

It looks like they all may be shuffling for a larger piece of the pie and, mergers are the best way to go.

I don't mind them changing hands, I just hate it when a bigger company that has made its money by selling cheap crap takes over one that has been producing quality gear, and then produces more cheap crap under the name that used to represent quality.
