THIBODAUX , La. --A medical student who blindfolds his friends to keep his favorite offshore fishing spot secret has come up with a record-beating fish -- a warsaw grouper weighing 359.1 pounds. The giant hauled in by J.J. Tabor of Thibodaux is 12 ounces above the previous Louisiana state record, a state biologist confirmed Nice fish!

I would be willing to bet my Vann Stall that he used a live bait that was over two pounds for that one.

Some people actually eat them.... I will eat them if I smoke them and put them in dip. That's the only way I'll eat big Kings.

They have a little to much mercury in them when they get that big.I enjoy catching them on the fly but, I only keep them if they are under around 15 pounds.

The big guy on the right is a grouper and, most of the fish on the board are grouper. They don't get a whole lot larger than the big one shown there and, they don't get to big to eat. What I was referring to was the king mackerel's They are the two long fish on the left in the picture.

Some fish do and, some don't Lucky for us the grouper don't because the fast food places like Mc Donald's and, Burger King wouldn't have fish sandwiches .

oh. wonder how old that fish was. probably older than any of the guys on the boat. is there a size limit on them?

OK I was mistaken. They do classify them as jew fish and, the limit is a little confusing. One source said that it is one per boat per day but, on the east coast the limit is 0 .We have black and, grey grouper off of our coast here in SC that reach weights over 300 pounds .I don't no how old they are but we boated one a few years back that was over 350 and, the only reason we boated it was that before we got it to the boat a shark took the tail off.

I was just wonderin. thanks for the info.

he he, just had a thought
only beat the old record by 12 oz. that is less than a meal. if he had puked up what he ate for breakfast on the way to the boat that old record might still stand!! LOL.
