I'm afraid that she would still find a way to reach through the phone and I would end up with bloody knuckles!! I can see it now, I'd end up in jail for giving the poor old nun a heart attack! I think I might have to keep them out of the loop on this one, and just quietly polish my halo...

The cobia had lock jaw this morning but, the spanish were hungry.Worked the spanish with pearl and, white clousers that I tied up yesterday and, they gave me there stamp of approval.Had several in the 3 lb range . I guess the cobia will get a break from my fly rod for a day or so.

Glad to hear the Spanish lesson went well, too bad the Cobia didn't show up for class!! Were they there and just not on the bite, or didn't you see any?

The cobia were there but, they were just hanging around and, would not take a thing.I tried every thing but, they refused.

That sucks. But, at least you got to play with the Spanish. Always nice to know you can catch bait for the offshore trips!!! LOL

You start yelling "IT IS ALIVE!" I'm going to be more than a bit worried, you haven't been getting ideas from my wife's flies have you???
Storms moving through here today to. Going to start putting together the yak tackle. Until I get really confident in that thing, I'm not taking gear out that my heart would break if it took a long swim. And I'm getting a bit of the "Mad Inventor" syndrome going myself... Ya think I might be going over the edge if I make a down rigger for a kayak???

I was thinking more along the lines of a center rigger. You can always rig a short rod with a Carolina rig that will work fine in water no deeper than you will be fishing.

I think I have the center rig solved. There's a hole amidship for a, I hate to say this, sail mast... (Get off the floor, I'm not converting. It is there for those that like to do things with sheets other than put them on a bed.). Thinking this could be easily set for a center rig for a WTFB line if needed. (Or maybe a kite pole...)
The down rigger idea is for the ledges of tunnels on the river mouths and some of the channels. These areas are marked off from traffic, and yaks try to fish them. Drifting baits or slow trolling a lure on them is a complaint that yakkers discuss at the yak shop. Extra poles, and rigging with heavier weight doesn't seem to be popular. (Landing fish with a hefty sinker yak side seems to be the problem, as well as the stout pole.) I was thinking a little downrigger set up that can be stored in a hatch, with a clip on the weight, could be the ticket. Light line clpped on, dropped to the bottom... Hey, this is what happens when you have too much time to think about things... LOL
