I heard this tip the other day and thought I'd pass it on.
To get those nasty memory coils out of your line soak your spool with line in hot (not boiling) water. Don't get your reel wet just the spool if you can remove it.

Great idea Bob! That is certainly a better way than I've been doing it. I usually dip my entire reel into the water for about three minutes before I start to fish. I also drag about 3/4 of my line behind the boat as if I were trolling. Either way gets the memory out but your method sounds much more intelligent. (whew... I bet I gave the Sheriff a big head with all that praise)

Don't think I'd want to dunk my whole reel on the water for 3 minutes Lunk but I bet that would help
