Well the Annual Fly Fishing Show is coming to Somerset, NJ. the 26th- 28th of Jan. I can't wait. I get to see all the new stuff for 2009. There is a trip I hope I can scrape up the money for in the near future and there will be a couple of seminars on that area. Maybe Brian can go visit his brother. Hint Hint

You have that right. It is my annual trip to Mecca. Van Stahl had a very nice display. NOR-VICE has a new Rotary Tying vice out. It was amazing and expensive. $295. I have been looking into learning spey casting. I found a DVD on the mechanics. I had to buy it. I'm learning the single handed technics to use with my fly rods.

It is a type of fly casting. Normally with a two handed rod that is 10-15' foot long. It is very hard to explain in words. It came from Northern Europe. It is taking on like wild fire here in the states with big river fisherman and also saltwater surf fisherman. Because of the mechcanics I don't thinj you can do it from a boat.

I think I understand what you are saying. Sort of a two handed way to heave larger flies longer distances. Kind of like the slight variations in casting surf fishiermen with conventional tackle need to adapt in areas with harder conditions.

Pretty much. I'm studying The single handed casts to use with my 5-10 wt. rods until I can purchase a two handed spey rod.

Good luck with it. I know the practice casting game all too well. LOL I spoke with a friend who found a little hole where it seems some juvenile poons have set up residency down in my paradise, and has given me some homework to do.... Practice, practice, practice.... LOL

Tightlines to that. I hear that " Poons " on a fly rod are fantastic.

Poons on any gear are a hoot. (IMHO catching one from shore in backcountry, or anyplace with obstacles wile one does not have the ability to chase them down is most challenging.) Hope to chase some next month.
