I'm looking at a Freedom hawk 14 Yak. It has rear outriggers that can be retracted with two levers for the sleek mode and expanded for standing up and fishing and poling. Does anyone have any ideas or comments on this model. The outriggers are easily removed for storage and transporting.

Rich, I need to check on my memory, but if I am correct a couple of these types of yaks were used during a tourney held in my area last season by some "handicapped" anglers. (In this case I'm not sure which word I dislike more, "handicapped" or disabled"...) The craft were met with some good comments and some discouraging. I think it comes down to what you are looking to do with the boat. Every yak design has its advantages and disadvantages, the trick is to pick one that will best meet your needs and go with that.
A couple of yak fishing guides I appreciate the opinions of are a little skeptical about this "new" technology. But they are the type to raise an eyebrow at Triple Doplar Radar Weather reports and ask their grandmother if she feels a storm coming by the ache in her bunions.
I am going to lunch sometime in the not so distant future with some folks in the yak "world", and if you would like, I will pick their brain trust on any concerns you would like me to.

I would be most pleased if you would. I can purchase one from a dealer in Lanchaster, Pa. for $1700.00 and a free 12' push pole.

Not up here in Hooterville. It would be nice if they did have a place close by to test it first.

I know and if I had the dough to open a business up here I would but here if you don't have the capital to hold you over for at least 5 yrs. you probably won't survive.
