We had several days of 40 degree weather so yesterday I hit the Lackawanna River for the first time this year. I found two fish that rose once to something small. The smallest fly I had on me was a size 22 BWO. The one fish was so tight against a log jam that I lost 3 flies trying for him. My casts were either to long and snagged the log jam or just to short and out of his viewing area. The other fish was tucked in front of the jam is a slack water eddie. I could get the fly to him but the current pulled the fly out almost as soon as the fly landed. The channel was too deep with the high water to get in better position. I spent way to much time trying to catch them and didn't have any time left over before the highwinds kicked in some gusting to 40 mph. All in all it was great to get out for a few hours and shake the cob webs out
;D

Sometimes the fun is just the thrill of trying to catch. At least you got out for a while. It has been really nice here too, it hit 62 Tuesday and 53 yesturday but I had to work so didn't get to enjoy it much.

Sorry you didn't get the chance to enjoy it. I'm even more glad because yesterday and today the weather is brutal. Windy and cold. That's the Poconos for ya. It was the earliest that I have started fishing in my life so that was a plus also. Thanks to coldwater species.

Glad you got out Rich. The window here opens and slams shut with brutal force, I'm not even trying. Guys launch in 2 to3's get to birds at the mouth of the bay and suddenly they are in 5 to 8's with some 12's thrown in every time there's a NEED to make a maneuver. (I have a new weather forecasting theory at this time for this area. "The closer you take your fishing rod to the water, the more the wind will blow from the E, NE, SE and points in between.. LOL)
Keep pressing your log, maybe you will catch something! (I'll wish you luck!)

Yesterday we recieved 3" of snow. Drat. We had just cleared up. We may have a warm spell coming up next week. I have my fingers crossed. I start back to work tomorrow for training. I can't wait.

I wish people would stop using the "S" word! An inch of the damned stuff fell here yesterday, and the temperatures aren't sufficiently high enough to rid the yard of white glare. (Though I am told that the neighbor's dog is attempting to make it look as though one is looking though it is being viewed throug amber sunglasses that have spots of mud on them.) It is supposed to be on the warming trend starting tomorrow, I will make an attempt to pack some and bring it with me as I venture in your direction Rich as I am headed to attend Smack's wedding on the weekend. I'll be stopping south of you, Buck's County area just north of and across the river from Trenton, but if there is any warm weather to spare in my suitcase, I will fling it out the window in your general direction. Don't blame me if it takes one look at the north, gets a clue what is up there and decides to whistle "Dixie" and run south.
