While fishing on vacation at Table Rock Lake in Arkansas I got a nice surpise. My son, wife and I were fishing for sunfish and I was using my 5' super ultralight fishing rod and reel. Here is what we were after and catching (small to medium sized bluegill). Zach holds up one of his catches And here is what we were fishing with. Little bits of worm on a #1 size hook Then my rod bends way over and the drag starts zinging. After a 5 minute fight I get it to the boat. Pull it up and out of the water. and lo and behold it's a 34" flathead catfish I never in a million years would of thought I could catch a flathead catfish in the middle of the day on a sunfish rig with small hook and a bit of worm. To my knowledge these guys mainly feed or pray on live bait as in small fish. Maybe he was after one of the sunfish that was after my worm, missed the fish and bit my worm instead. Either way I think it was a freak deal and a nice surpise. Don't think that will ever happen again.
